I published my first blog post on May 25th, 2011 so, to celebrate my first year of blogging I will be running FIVE SIX giveaways from Monday to Friday this week! I’ll update this post daily outlining the items I’m giving away for that day. How to enter:
- All the giveaways will be hosted on my blog’s Facebook page which you can find here: Small But Kinda Mighty.
- There is a tab there called Blog Giveaways! which will have all the giveaways on it.
- Enter the giveaway(s) of your choice using the Rafflecopter widgets provided.
If you haven’t used Rafflecopter before, you may want to watch this short video. The giveaways will run for four days and once over, a winner will be picked at random.
Please note that all winning entries will be verified before being announced. If any conditions haven’t actually been satisfied for the winning entry, then it will be disqualified and I will have to pick another. If the entry requires you to ‘like’ a Facebook page, please make sure you have liked it using the name you entered the contest with.
Giveaway Day 1: Signed copy of The Thinking Person’s Guide to Autism book
If you aren’t already aware of The Thinking Person’s Guide to Autism well, now you have no excuse. It’s a great blog edited by parents of autistic children, autistics and professionals with an interest in autism. Their book brings together a selection of posts from the blog and is a must-read for any parent with a child on spectrum.
Four of the blog’s editors (Shannon Des Roches Rosa, Jennifer Byde Myers, Emily Willingham and Carol Greenburg) were in Toronto recently for IMFAR 2012 and I had the pleasure of meeting them. They kindly agreed to sign the copy of the book I am giving away which was also signed by both Corina Becker, one of the book’s contributors and an organizer of Autistics Speaking Day and Alex Plank of Wrong Planet who had nothing to do with the book but was there and seemed keen on signing it. 🙂
Giveaway Day 2: $10 iTunes gift card
If the winner uses the Canadian iTunes store then I can easily send this gift via email. If the winner uses another store then, if necessary, I can send them the funds to buy a card via PayPal.
Giveaway Day 3: A Jar by Lisa and a copy of the AAC app So Much 2 Say
U.S. residents can enter this giveaway to win a jar made by my friend Lisa! The cost of shipping to residents outside the U.S. is prohibitive which is why I have had to restrict this giveaway to U.S. residents only.
The winner will contact Lisa through her page, choose a design, and I will then pay for both the jar and the cost of shipping. If the winner would like to take this opportunity to order more jars then any additional purchase and shipping costs will have to be met by the winner personally.
Lisa makes autism awareness jars as well as jars for special occasions like Mother’s Day and Teacher Appreciation Week. You can check out pictures of her jars on her Facebook page.
Non-U.S. residents need not despair however! Thanks to the generosity of Close 2 Home Apps LLC I also have a copy of the $25 AAC app, So Much 2 Say, to giveaway. This is a wonderful app for individuals who are either first-time AAC users, have limited mobility, hearing and/or vision challenges, or who respond to pictures more than symbols.
The app is going through a major upgrade (the update has been submitted to Apple) which will ensure it is even more flexible and useful to a wider population of AAC users. One feature I am particularly excited about is the ability to share cards between iOS devices with ease (the devices do not need to be using the same iTunes account, so this will be a huge boon to teachers and therapists).
Giveaway Day 4: Hair Pretties by CGregoryRun
My friend Cynthia makes hair pretties as a way to relax. She makes barettes, alice bands, clips – all cute and colourful. I sent her a couple of jpg files of Wonder Woman and Spider Girl and she used the images to make awesome barettes for Jim’s youngest daughter. She even sold enough to raise sufficient funds to buy her son’s teacher an iPad!
If you have a daughter or heck, even if you just know a little girl, you want at least one of these (if not more). Cynthia has kindly agreed to donate a hair pretty for a giveaway. The winner will contact her through her blog’s Facebook page, choose a design and Bob’s your uncle!
Giveaway Day 5: Another $10 iTunes gift card!!
The winners of all of the giveaways will be notified by email – if you sign into Rafflecopter using Facebook then this will be your Facebook email. Anyone can enter the giveaways unless otherwise noted and I will pay for shipping of any items via ground post. If a winner wants their prize shipped to them using any other method then the additional cost will need to be sent to me via PayPal. The winners will have seven calendar days to provide their address via return email, if I have not received a response in that time then another winner will be drawn. If you have any questions please feel free to post them in comments here or on the SBKM Facebook page.
Enjoy and good luck!
